With a team of developers, Weston has significantly improved Jeanie’s natural language understanding, increasing its accuracy from 25% to 90% in deciphering customer inquiries.

The key to this improvement was re-architecting the natural language understanding algorithm to eliminate the challenges of interpreting customer requests with nuance. Weston and his team spent months fine-tuning the algorithm to strike the right balance between specificity and flexibility.

Weston’s team has integrated automation processes using software from Lucid, allowing Jeanie to streamline customer interactions and provide efficient service while maintaining an option for customers to speak with a human agent if needed.

Looking ahead, Weston and his team are exploring additional use cases for AI within Fifth Third Bank, with a focus on leveraging generative AI as a productivity tool for employees. By harnessing machine learning algorithms to acquire and retain customers and deepen relationships, Weston is committed to driving innovation and efficiency within the organization.
