The Centre, Livingston Launches First-Ever Space Dome Event: A Journey Through the Cosmos Awaits!

Explore the Cosmos: The Centre Livingston’s First-Ever Space Dome Experience

Prepare for an extraordinary adventure at The Centre, Livingston! From October 18th to 27th, visitors will be treated to the grand unveiling of the 8m Space Dome, a captivating event designed to immerse you in the wonders of our universe. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to journey through the galaxies and engage in incredible science-themed activities right in the heart of Livingston.

Dive into the Universe Inside the Space Dome

Inside this magnificent dome, you’ll experience a 360° planetarium film titled “Journey to Infinity.” Narrated by renowned former Blue Peter producer and BBC presenter Sue Beardsmore, this full-dome film offers a virtual journey through space, exploring distant galaxies and uncovering our profound connection to the cosmos. With stunning visuals and surround sound, viewers will feel as if they are truly soaring through the universe.

Activities That Spark Curiosity

Whether you’re a space enthusiast or simply looking for a family-friendly outing, the Space Dome event promises a plethora of activities. Among the highlights is the chance to handle Campo Del Ceilo meteorites, ancient relics from Argentina that are around 4.6 billion years old. These awe-inspiring objects offer a hands-on glimpse into the early solar system and the geological wonders beyond our home planet.

Kids can also engage in a Virtual Reality Zone, featuring headsets and astronaut costumes that allow them to embark on their own voyages through space. They’ll explore natural astronomical objects, from stars and planets to asteroids and galaxies, all while fostering a genuine interest in science.

Fun for a Great Cause

The Space Dome isn’t just about cosmic exploration; it’s also an opportunity to give back. The event will raise funds for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), which provides crucial hospice services for children with life-shortening conditions. Donations are optional, but every little bit helps bring joy to these children and their families.

Zhenya Dove, Community Fundraiser at CHAS, expressed excitement about the partnership:

“It’s a great way for families to enjoy some time together and make precious memories, which is exactly what’s at the heart of everything we do at CHAS.”

Perfect for the October Break

Timed for the October school break, this event offers an educational and fun way for families to spend time together. According to Centre Director Patrick Robbertze,

“Our Space Dome event will give visitors the chance to enjoy a great day shopping, dining out, and watching a captivating space-themed film in a planetarium.”

Visiting Details

The Space Dome will be located next to Waterstones and will run daily from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission to all activities is free, making it a budget-friendly option for families looking to create lasting memories.
