OpenAI delays the release of ChatGPT ‘Voice Mode’ to July

OpenAI Delays Launch of “Voice Mode” for Latest AI Model, GPT-4o

In a recent announcement on Twitter, OpenAI revealed that it needs more time to prepare its latest AI model, specifically the “Voice Mode” feature. Originally planned to roll out in alpha to a small group of ChatGPT Plus users in late June, the company now requires an additional month to ensure the bar for launch is met.

The delay is attributed to improvements being made to the model’s ability to detect and refuse certain content, as well as enhancing the user experience and preparing infrastructure to scale to millions while maintaining real-time responses. OpenAI aims to test the feature with a small group of users before a wider rollout this fall, pending safety and reliability checks.

The AI company had previously introduced the GPT-4o model in May, which is capable of carrying out realistic voice conversations. With the growing popularity of voice assistants and the increasing reliance on voice technology for various tasks, OpenAI’s aim is to capitalize on this trend by providing enhanced ease of use and processing speed.

The ChatGPT experience will be revolutionized with the introduction of Voice Mode, making interactions more natural and effective, akin to interacting with a human. This move aligns with consumer preferences for voice technology due to its speed, ease of use, and convenience compared to typing or using touchscreens.

Overall, OpenAI’s decision to delay the launch of Voice Mode showcases their commitment to delivering a high-quality product that meets the expectations of users. With the promise of real-time conversations and seamless responses, the introduction of Voice Mode is eagerly anticipated by the tech community. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development from OpenAI.
