NeuBird founders leverage generative AI to simplify cloud-native IT operations
When Goutham Rao and Vinod Jayaraman sold their cloud-native storage startup, Portworx, to PureStorage for $370 million in 2019, they knew they had hit upon a winning formula. With two successful exits under their belt, the duo set out to find their next challenge, and they found it in the intersection of cloud-native IT operations and generative AI.
Their new venture, NeuBird, has just announced a $22 million investment from Mayfield to bring their idea to market. The founders recognized that as the cloud-native community has grown and evolved, it has also become increasingly complex. With layers upon layers of services and metrics, human engineers were struggling to keep up with the volume of data and diagnose and solve problems at scale.
To tackle this problem, NeuBird is leveraging large language models in a unique way to analyze vast amounts of metrics, alerts, logs, traces, and application configuration information in real-time. The goal is to create a trusted digital assistant for engineering teams that can monitor and diagnose issues quickly and accurately, reducing incident response times from hours to minutes.
By using a limited set of data to train their models and setting up systems to cross-check the AI’s responses, the founders are confident in the accuracy of the solutions provided. Customers can connect their cloud systems directly to NeuBird, allowing the AI to cross-reference information and provide tailored solutions without the need to move data around.
NeuBird is utilizing various models, including Llama 2 for log and metric analysis and Mistral for other types of analysis. Every natural language interaction is turned into a SQL query, transforming unstructured data into structured data for increased accuracy.
The early-stage startup is currently working with design and alpha partners to refine their product before launching later this year. By securing a substantial investment upfront, the founders have the freedom to focus on solving the problem at hand without the pressure of fundraising in the near future.
With their track record of success and innovative approach to solving complex IT challenges, NeuBird is poised to make a significant impact on the cloud-native industry. Keep an eye on this startup as they work to revolutionize IT operations with the power of generative AI.
