Japanese Startup Ludens AI Unveils Two Adorable Robots at CES 2026

The Rise of Adorable Robot Companions: Ludens AI Unveils Cocomo and Inu at CES 2026

CES 2026: The Year of Adorable Robots

As CES 2026 unfolds, the spotlight is not just on groundbreaking humanoids designed to assist with daily tasks but also on an unexpectedly delightful category of robots: those created for companionship and cuteness. Among the eye-catching displays, Japanese startup Ludens AI is making waves with two endearing robot companions that are sure to steal the hearts of visitors.

Meet Cocomo: Your Furry Companion

First up is Cocomo, an autonomous robot pet with a design that resembles a fluffy, egg-shaped creature. Dressed in an orange suit adorned with cute ears, Cocomo evokes the charm of a teddy bear while showcasing impressive tech capabilities. The robot glides around on a wheeled base but has tiny legs, allowing for a unique carrying option when you want to keep it close.

One of the standout features of Cocomo is its ability to maintain a comforting body temperature, aligning closely with the human norm of 98.6°F. In situations where affection is shared—like a warm hug—the temperature can increase to 102°F, simulating the warmth of a living pet. Instead of speaking, Cocomo "communicates" through a chorus of hums and sound effects, providing a soothing auditory backdrop for its interactions.

While noise levels at CES made it difficult to witness Cocomo’s capabilities fully, Ludens AI emphasizes that this robot is designed for emotional bonding. According to the company, Cocomo engages its owners through spontaneous gestures and playful imitation, learning personalized behaviors to make you laugh, comfort you, or even surprise you.

Ludens hasn’t disclosed pricing or availability details yet, but those interested can join a waitlist for updates about an upcoming crowdfunding campaign.

Inu: The Desktop Delight

Next in line is Inu, a pint-sized robot that Ludens charmingly describes as a "desktop alien pupu." Unlike Cocomo, Inu is designed to remain stationary, serving as a delightful companion while you work. Its interactive features include a wagging tail in response to voice prompts and tactile engagement, as well as a single eye that can blink, giving it an adorable, animated presence on your desk.

Inu aims to create a more joyful workspace, making tasks feel less solitary. To complement its desktop existence, Ludens plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign for Inu later this year, ensuring that this charming addition finds its way to more people’s homes.

The Rise of Cute Robots

The introduction of Cocomo and Inu at CES 2026 signals an exciting evolution in robotics—one that prioritizes emotional connection and companionship alongside functionality. As technology advances and the boundaries between humans and machines blur, these adorable robots serve as a reminder that companionship can come in unexpected forms.

In a world often dominated by utilitarian technology, Ludens AI is carving a niche that emphasizes joy, comfort, and emotional engagement through design. The future may be uncertain, but with robot companions like Cocomo and Inu, it’s looking distinctly adorable.

Stay tuned for updates as Ludens AI rolls out its crowdfunding campaigns and prepares to bring these lovable robots to the public. Whether you’re looking for a cuddly companion or a playful desktop friend, 2026 is set to be a year filled with heartwarming innovations in the world of robotics.
