Exciting New Features Unveiled in OpenAI’s GPT-40 Model at Spring Update Event
The unveiling of OpenAI’s GPT-4o model with live voice functionality during its Spring Update event has taken the tech world by storm. As a tech enthusiast, I was eager to see a live demo of this new capability, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations.
During a panel on AI co-workers at the VivaTech technology conference in Paris, OpenAI’s head of developer experience, Romain Huet, showcased the new features of the ChatGPT Desktop app. The AI addressed the audience with enthusiasm, even speaking French with an American accent. The ability of ChatGPT Voice to interact with the audience in real-time was truly impressive.
One of the standout moments of the demo was when Huet used the camera module in the ChatGPT Voice section of the app. By showing the AI a simple sketch of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triumph, it was able to identify both landmarks. Huet then asked for directions from our current location, and ChatGPT provided a detailed train route with stops and changes.
The demonstration also showcased the coding capabilities of ChatGPT, with Huet able to show the AI his code, receive suggestions for improvements, and see the output in real-time. This real-time collaboration between developer and AI opens up new possibilities for coding and productivity.
OpenAI’s foray into product mode with the ChatGPT Desktop app hints at a future where AI tools will become essential productivity aids. The potential for creating deep fakes and misleading content with these tools is a concern, but OpenAI is working on safety measures to address these issues.
The demo also introduced a new product, Sora, and Voice Engine, which allow for the creation of promotional videos with voice-over scripts generated by AI. However, these products are still in development due to safety concerns surrounding deep fakes.
Overall, the live demo of the GPT-4o model and its various functionalities left me excited about the future of AI technology. The potential for AI to enhance our daily lives and productivity is immense, and OpenAI is at the forefront of this innovation. I can’t wait to see how these technologies evolve and become more accessible to the public in the coming months.
