AI Chatbot Outage: ChatGPT and Gemini Down for Users in India for a Couple of Minutes
New Delhi, UPDATED: May 3, 2024 12:18 IST
When ChatGPT and Gemini went down in India, users were left in a frenzy. These AI chatbots have become an integral part of people’s lives, helping with everything from writing assignments to answering questions in a human-like manner. The outage was quickly noticed by users across the country, who took to social media to report the issue.
Downdetector showed that both ChatGPT and Gemini were hit by an error, leaving users unable to access the services. While ChatGPT’s mobile app was still functional, users on the web platform were facing issues. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, acknowledged the problem on its status page and provided updates as they worked to resolve the outage. After about 27 minutes, ChatGPT was back up and running for users in India.
Social media was flooded with posts from frustrated users, some of whom reported seeing error messages or blank pages when trying to interact with the AI chatbots. Others mentioned that their previous conversations had disappeared, adding to the confusion and frustration of the outage.
This isn’t the first time that ChatGPT has experienced a major outage. In the past, users have reported similar issues, prompting OpenAI to address the problem and work towards solutions. Gemini, on the other hand, is a newer player in the AI chatbot space, with image generation capabilities that have sparked controversy in the past.
Despite the technical glitches, ChatGPT and Gemini remain popular tools for users around the world. While ChatGPT focuses on text-based responses, Gemini offers a more interactive experience, making them valuable assets for students, writers, and curious minds alike.
As technology continues to evolve, AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini are likely to play an even bigger role in our lives. While the occasional outage may cause frustration, it’s a reminder of just how reliant we’ve become on these intelligent tools. Let’s hope that future updates and improvements will make the user experience even better.
