Atos International Press Release: Supporting the European Space Agency in Advancing the DestinE Ecosystem
Empowering a Sustainable Future Through Innovative Applications and Services
Paris, France – April 16, 2026 – Atos, a global leader in AI-powered digital transformation, has been entrusted by the European Space Agency (ESA) to launch an Open Competition to enhance the DestinE ecosystem. This initiative aims to create a highly accurate digital twin of Earth, assisting policymakers and researchers in understanding natural phenomena to foster sustainability.
Revolutionizing Earth Observation: Atos Partners with ESA for the DestinE Platform
Introduction
In a landmark collaboration, Atos, a global leader in AI-powered digital transformation, has taken a significant step towards enhancing our understanding of Earth’s processes. This partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) aims to expand the DestinE platform, a groundbreaking initiative designed to create a highly accurate digital twin of our planet.
Understanding DestinE
The DestinE (Digital Twin of Earth) initiative is a flagship project led by the European Commission. In collaboration with ESA, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), DestinE focuses on simulating, monitoring, and comprehensively understanding both natural and human phenomena on Earth. This project is vitally important for informing decision-making processes geared towards a more sustainable future.
Expanding the Ecosystem
On April 16, 2026, Atos announced it has successfully executed an Open Competition to select twelve innovative service providers to implement Advanced Applications & Services (AAS) on the DestinE platform. Each service is equipped to tackle different challenges, providing invaluable insights for various sectors, from agriculture to urban planning.
