From September 13-21, 2025, visitors are invited to witness a remarkable demonstration of technology—a robot that can spray a complete, ultralight shoe upper in just three minutes. On’s LightSpray™ Revolution

At the core of this innovation is On’s LightSpray™ technology, which revolutionizes the way shoe uppers are produced. Guided by Swiss engineering principles of precision and efficiency, this new manufacturing process allows for the seamless creation of shoe components in a single step. As Johannes Voelchert, Senior Lead for Innovation Technology Exploration, explained, “LightSpray™ is the future. It is a radical sustainable technology. We can develop new designs by manipulating filament into several shapes.”

Not only does LightSpray™ streamline production—resulting in a drastic reduction in manufacturing time—it also aligns with sustainable practices. By minimizing waste and cutting carbon emissions by 75% compared to traditional racing shoes, this technology doesn’t just enhance performance; it also contributes positively to the planet. The first shoe to showcase this innovation, the Cloudboom Strike LS, is a marvel in its own right, weighing in at just 170g while providing a seamless, precision fit.
