Collaboration between Cama and ABB Robotics results in significant productivity improvements for machinery line.

Cama and B&R Collaboration Delivers Success in Automation for Confectionery Sector

The collaboration between Cama and B&R has undoubtedly led to some innovative advancements in automation technology, particularly within the confectionery sector. This partnership has enabled the development of a new and improved MTL Monoblock Top Loading system, which is set to be showcased at the upcoming Pack Expo event in Chicago.

One of the key highlights of this collaboration is the integration of augmented reality into the machinery, allowing for easier access to maintenance, changeover, and spare parts ordering. This not only reduces the potential for human error but also saves time, with changeover times being significantly cut down from 30 to 12 minutes.

The use of B&R’s magnetic track system has also contributed to the success of this collaboration, allowing for increased productivity and a reduced footprint. The system has been designed to serve multiple upstream feeds for similar products with different synchronizations, further optimizing the flow of products and cycle times.

The co-creation process, as described by Wlady Martino, has been instrumental in the development of this enhanced system. By using simulation and a variety of skills, the teams at Cama and B&R were able to optimize the layout, number of shuttles, and work cycle before the hardware was even available. This collaborative approach has proven to be successful, as the simulation results closely match the real behavior of the final hardware.

Overall, the success of this collaboration can be attributed to the shared values and objectives of both companies. Sustainability, durability, and a focus on people are key principles that have driven this partnership forward. By investing in their personnel and forming relationships based on ethics and corporate social responsibility, Cama and B&R have been able to push the boundaries of automation technology and deliver real added value to their customers.

As we look towards the future, it will be exciting to see how this collaboration continues to evolve and bring about further advancements in automation technology, not just within the confectionery sector, but across the food and drink industry as a whole.
