Residents of Bicester protest against proposed development plans for green space

Controversy Over Plans for Self-Build Homes on Kings End Farm Estate Site in Hambleside

The Kings End Farm estate is about to see some changes as plans for two self-build homes have been submitted for a site located to the south of Hambleside and on the north side of Middleton Stoney Road. The proposal, put forward by MJB Architectural Design on behalf of Denis Monogarov, aims to complete the development of the Kings End Farm Estate, with access proposed from Middleton Stoney Road.

Despite the plans receiving nearly 100 objections from residents who claim the land is regularly used by dog walkers and children, developers argue that the land has not been used for public open space or for the enjoyment of local residents. They point out that it is not clear whether the land is maintained or allowed to get overgrown and untidy.

Among those who voiced their concerns online, residents like Paul Mobey and Simon Robins emphasized the importance of the green space for the community. They highlighted how the land is currently used for recreational activities, and its development would deprive the current and future generations of a valuable open space.

Amy Bailey also emphasized the role of the land in providing a much-needed recreational space for the community. She stressed the importance of preserving it as green space for the well-being of the locals.

The planning statement for the proposal argues that the development would make the best use of the available land and ensure that the area is fully maintained for the benefit of nearby residents. It also highlights the footpath that is being provided as a local community benefit and stresses that the site is in a sustainable location with minimal impact on traffic.

While the proposed development may bring new homes to the area, it is clear that there is a strong attachment to the green space among the residents of Hambleside. The debate between development and preservation of open spaces is a common one in many communities, and it is important for all stakeholders to be heard and for a well-balanced decision to be reached. With the concerns raised by the residents, it will be interesting to see how the planning process unfolds and what the ultimate outcome will be for the site on Middleton Stoney Road.
