The Rise of ChatGPT: Business-Focused AI Chatbots See Tremendous Growth
Artificial intelligence chatbots are taking the tech industry by storm, with OpenAI’s ChatGPT hitting 100 million users in just two months, making it one of the fastest launches ever. The demand for a business-focused version of ChatGPT has been skyrocketing, with 600,000 people signing up for ChatGPT Enterprise, a specialized subscription version of the chatbot service.
In an interview with Bloomberg, OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap noted that the figure was up from 150,000 in January, and predicted that 2024 will be “the year of adoption for AI in the enterprise.” This success in expanding adoption of AI for business suggests that AI technology will soon find its way into many workplaces.
Despite the rapid growth of AI chatbots, not all businesses have embraced the technology with open arms. OpenAI is currently facing a lawsuit from The New York Times, which alleges that the company used its copyrighted works without permission to help create ChatGPT.
However, other tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Meta are also making strides in the AI space. Microsoft has integrated AI tools into its Bing search engine and Office suite, while Google has expanded its AI chatbot technology across its product line. Meta has introduced chatbots with “unique interests and personalities,” along with other AI-powered tools.
Even Apple is reportedly planning to enhance its iPhone with AI technology, with potential announcements expected at its Worldwide Developers Conference this summer. OpenAI itself is showcasing next-generation AI tools like Sora, which can turn words into ultra-realistic videos, and Voice Engine, which can recreate a person’s voice from a short recording.
As AI technology continues to advance and integrate into various industries, it’s clear that the future will be increasingly driven by artificial intelligence. While there are concerns about the societal impact of AI, its potential to revolutionize how we work and interact with technology is undeniable. With the rapid growth of AI chatbots and other AI technologies, it’s likely that we’ll see even more innovative uses of artificial intelligence in the near future.
