Kuehne+Nagel Implements Robotised Order Sorting System at Châtres Warehouse

Kuehne+Nagel Introduces Robotised Order Sorting System from Libiao Robotics

Kuehne+Nagel, a leading logistics provider, has recently implemented a new robotised order sorting system from Libiao Robotics at its multi-client warehouse in Châtres, France. This innovative technology aims to enhance productivity, handle high volumes during peak periods, introduce collaborative technologies to support human resources, and streamline repetitive manual tasks.

The Châtres logistics centre in the Seine-et-Marne region is being transformed through the deployment of collaborative autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) provided by Chinese company, Libiao Robotics. Kuehne+Nagel is proud to be the first third-party logistics provider in France to leverage automated order sorting in this way and the pioneer of this technology among its global warehouses.

Designed specifically for customers in the eCommerce and fashion sectors, the Libiao solution enables seamless operations, flexibility, and responsiveness, particularly during peak seasons or facility transitions. Christophe Vandrome, Contract Logistics Director at Kuehne+Nagel France, emphasizes the significance of this technology in maintaining operational continuity and improving efficiency.

The ‘mini yellows’, as the robots are affectionately called by Libiao Robotics and clients, play a crucial role in sorting and transferring parcels accurately within the warehouse. This collaborative technology not only accelerates the process but also reduces error rates significantly, almost reaching zero according to Kuehne+Nagel.

The incorporation of collaborative robots is crucial in industries with fluctuating seasonal volumes. Robotic technologies offer effective solutions for managing these variations, thanks to their user-friendly nature. Vandrome highlights the positive impact of these robots on employees, enabling them to focus on value-added tasks while alleviating the monotony of traditional logistics duties.

The introduction of around 50 Libiao AMRs at the Châtres facility was made possible through the expertise of Körber Supply Chain, Libiao’s global partner-integrator for the past three years. This initiative marks a significant milestone in Kuehne+Nagel’s commitment to adopting collaborative, flexible, and scalable technologies. Building on a successful pilot project with nine sorting robots, the company has expanded its robotic workforce to enhance order consolidation and processing efficiency.

The robotisation of the Châtres warehouse not only improves operational efficiency but also creates new job opportunities and skill development in robot maintenance. This forward-thinking approach aligns with Kuehne+Nagel’s dedication to innovation, customer satisfaction, and employee well-being.

In conclusion, the integration of Libiao Robotics’ advanced technology at the Châtres warehouse signifies a major leap forward in the evolution of logistics automation. By embracing collaborative robots, Kuehne+Nagel is setting a new standard for efficient, adaptable, and customer-centric order sorting processes.
