Kuehne+Nagel Implements Robotic Order Sorting System at Châtres Warehouse

Kuehne+Nagel Embraces Robotized Order Sorting System to Boost Warehouse Efficiency

Kuehne+Nagel, a global leader in supply chain solutions, has recently implemented a new robotized order sorting system at its Châtres warehouse in France. The system, developed by Libiao Robotics and integrated by Körber Supply Chain, is set to revolutionize the way orders are fulfilled in the warehouse, particularly during peak times.

The introduction of this new technology is a significant step towards improving productivity, reducing manual tasks, and enhancing collaboration between humans and robots in the warehouse. According to Libiao Robotics, the mobile sorting solution is designed to help warehouse operatives handle high volumes efficiently while maintaining flexibility and responsiveness.

Dubbed as “mini yellows” due to their distinctive color, the robots play a crucial role in sorting and transferring pre-labelled parcels to the correct bins for delivery. This not only saves time but also leads to a significant reduction in error rates, making the operation more accurate and streamlined.

Christophe Vandrome, Contract Logistics Director at Kuehne+Nagel France, highlighted the positive impact of the robotic technology on the warehouse operations. He mentioned that the robots enable the teams to focus on more value-added tasks, such as personalizing parcels, while reducing the monotony of repetitive logistics tasks. Additionally, the robotization of the facility has paved the way for the creation of new jobs and the development of new skills in robot maintenance.

The Châtres warehouse now boasts around 50 Libiao Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), thanks to the successful integration by Körber Supply Chain. This large-scale project follows a pilot phase where nine Libiao robots were deployed under a Robots-as-a-Service model to assist with parcel sorting.

Overall, the implementation of the robotized order sorting system at the Châtres warehouse marks a significant milestone in Kuehne+Nagel’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in its supply chain operations. By embracing collaborative robotic technologies, the company is not only enhancing productivity but also creating a more engaging and fulfilling work environment for its employees. With this successful deployment, Kuehne+Nagel is poised to set new standards in warehouse automation and customer service in the logistics industry.
