Warm Welcome Programme at Tŷ Pawb: Free Meals and Craft Activities for the Community

Warm Welcome at Tŷ Pawb: Embracing Community and Creativity

As the chilly winter months draw near, Wrexham’s beloved community hub, Tŷ Pawb, is set to launch a heartwarming initiative that promises not just warmth, but connection, creativity, and community spirit. Starting on December 11, the Warm Welcome program aims to provide participants with a free hot meal, hot drinks, and opportunities to explore new craft skills in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

A Response to the Cost of Living Crisis

In an effort to support local residents struggling with the rising cost of living, Wrexham Council has established a network of Warm Spaces throughout the community. This initiative includes existing warm areas such as libraries and the Wellbeing Hub, offering a refuge for those seeking warmth and companionship during the cold months. The Warm Welcome project has been generously funded through the Warm Spaces Small Grant Fund, reflecting a strong commitment to the welfare of residents.

Creating “Warmth, Support, and Connection”

Cllr Hugh Jones, the Lead Member with Responsibility for Tŷ Pawb, shared insights on the significance of this initiative, stating, “It can sometimes be difficult for many to stay warm and access social and leisure opportunities during winter months. Through these sessions, we aim to support participants to feel well, access the arts, and connect with their neighbors.” This perspective encapsulates the essence of what Tŷ Pawb stands for: a vibrant space that fosters inclusivity and companionship.

Cllr Beverley Parry-Jones further emphasized the importance of the program, describing it as a vital service that not only provides warmth but also cultivates lasting friendships through varied activities. With at least one free daytime activity scheduled in the market hall daily from Monday to Saturday, Tŷ Pawb continues to serve as a beacon of hope and camaraderie.

Engaging Crafts and Culinary Delights

The Warm Welcome Sessions will feature the expertise of local artist Ceri Wright, offering an array of creative activities such as printmaking, collage, and clay work. Participants will not only engage their creative sides but will also be nourished with delicious hot meals provided by the Courtyard Café at Wrexham Museum, which is currently operating within Tŷ Pawb’s Food Court.

Connecting with Tŷ Pawb

This program is much more than just a series of activities—it represents a community coming together to nurture one another during tough times. As Cllr Nigel Williams highlighted, Wrexham’s community spaces act as sanctuaries for warmth and connection. With the commitment of the teams involved in the Warm Spaces program, the hope is that everyone in need will find solace in these supportive services.
